MY CLOUD Transit Hotel at Frankfurt Airport: Who Can Actually Use It?

MY CLOUD is not a normal airport hotel. It is a transit product — available only to eligible transit passengers airside at T1, Gate Z25. This page classifies who can access it, who cannot, and what you must verify before booking.

The most common MY CLOUD booking mistake: booking it thinking it is a normal airport hotel, then discovering at the airport that you cannot reach it. If you are an arriving passenger, a departing passenger starting from landside, or a transit passenger without Z-concourse access, MY CLOUD is structurally inaccessible to you.
1 · WHAT MY CLOUD ACTUALLY IS

A transit product, not a hotel.

MY CLOUD is an airside sleep-cabin service at Frankfurt Airport. It offers hourly-rate cabins behind security and passport control. It is designed for transit passengers who need a few hours of rest between flights — not for overnight hotel stays in the conventional sense.

WHAT MY CLOUD IS
  • A transit-area sleep cabin service
  • Hourly-rate booking (not fixed check-in/check-out)
  • Located airside at Terminal 1, Gate Z25
  • In the Non-Schengen zone
  • Available only to eligible transit passengers
  • Behind security and passport control
WHAT MY CLOUD IS NOT
  • Not a conventional hotel with reception
  • Not accessible to the general public
  • Not reachable from landside without a boarding pass
  • Not comparable to Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, or MEININGER
  • Not bookable by arriving or departing passengers
  • Not located in any terminal other than T1
2 · LOCATION

Terminal 1, Gate Z25, airside, Non-Schengen zone.

MY CLOUD is physically located behind security and passport control in the Non-Schengen airside zone of Terminal 1, at Gate Z25. This location determines everything about who can access it.

LOCATION ATTRIBUTEVALUEIMPLICATION
TerminalT1Only T1 passengers can access it directly
ZoneAirsideRequires valid boarding pass + security clearance
Border zoneNon-SchengenSchengen passengers must pass passport control first
GateZ25Must be in Z concourse area; not accessible from A, B, or C piers
Public accessNoNot reachable from landside, check-in, arrivals, or train stations
3 · WHO CAN USE IT

Eligible: transit passengers in the Z concourse area.

✓ ELIGIBLE — LIKELY CAN ACCESS

You are a transit passenger (connecting between two flights) with a valid boarding pass for a flight departing from or arriving at the Z concourse area of Terminal 1. Your baggage is through-checked to your final destination, so you do not need to enter landside. You are in the Non-Schengen airside zone and your next flight also departs from the Non-Schengen zone. You need a few hours of rest between flights and can book an hourly cabin.

◐ CONDITIONALLY ELIGIBLE — ADDITIONAL VERIFICATION REQUIRED

You are a transit passenger but your flight departs from a different pier (A, B, or C). You must verify that you can reach Gate Z25 and return to your departure gate within your connection time. You are a transit passenger arriving from a Schengen flight and departing on a Non-Schengen flight — you will pass through passport control into the Non-Schengen zone, where MY CLOUD is located. MY CLOUD makes the final eligibility decision.

4 · WHO CANNOT USE IT

Structurally excluded: most passengers.

✗ ARRIVING PASSENGER

You have landed at Frankfurt as your final destination. You will pass through passport control (if applicable), collect your baggage (if checked), and exit through customs into the landside arrivals hall. You cannot re-enter the airside area without a departing boarding pass. MY CLOUD is structurally inaccessible to arriving passengers.

✗ DEPARTING PASSENGER (STARTING AT FRA)

You are beginning your journey at Frankfurt. You start landside at check-in. After security, you can access the airside area — but you would need to reach Gate Z25 and have enough time before boarding. MY CLOUD is designed for transit passengers, not for pre-flight rests by departing passengers. A landside airport hotel or day room is structurally more appropriate.

✗ SEPARATE TICKETS WITH BAGGAGE COLLECTION

You have separate tickets and must collect and re-check your baggage. Baggage claim is landside. Once you enter landside, you cannot return airside without passing through security again with a valid departing boarding pass. This makes MY CLOUD impractical for most self-transfer passengers.

✗ SCHENGEN-ONLY TRANSIT PASSENGER

Both your arriving and departing flights are within the Schengen zone. You remain in the Schengen airside area. MY CLOUD is in the Non-Schengen airside zone. Reaching it would require passing through passport control into the Non-Schengen zone — and then passing back through passport control to return to your Schengen departure gate. This is structurally possible but adds significant time and complexity.

5 · ELIGIBILITY MATRIX

Passenger state → eligibility.

This is a structural classification based on verifiable rules. Operational exceptions may exist. Always verify with MY CLOUD directly.

7 · COMMON BOOKING MISTAKES

Four mistakes that cost passengers money.

✕ Booking MY CLOUD as a normal airport hotel.
MY CLOUD appears on hotel booking platforms alongside the Marriott and Hilton. It is not the same type of product. If you book it as an arriving or departing passenger, you will not be able to reach it.
✕ Assuming "airport hotel" means you can walk there from any terminal.
MY CLOUD is at T1, Gate Z25 — deep inside the Non-Schengen airside zone. It is not near check-in, baggage claim, the train station, or any landside area. You cannot walk there from outside security.
✕ Booking MY CLOUD with a T3 departure.
MY CLOUD is at T1. If your flight departs from T3, you must take the SkyLine from T1 to T3 — and you cannot return to T1 after leaving. MY CLOUD is structurally incompatible with a T3 departure unless you have an exceptionally long connection and can return to T1 before your T3 transfer.
✕ Booking MY CLOUD without checking your gate area.
Even if you are a transit passenger at T1, your gate may be in Pier A, B, or C — far from Z25. Confirm your actual gate assignment before booking. Gate assignments can change.
